CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. — Organizations serving Camden County youth will have access to a regional grant program for the first time this fall, with about $150,000 expected to be awarded across four northeastern North Carolina counties.

The HCWGMW Endowment, administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation, will accept applications beginning Sept. 11. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $30,000.

Camden and Gates counties are new to the program this year. In previous years, applications were limited to organizations serving Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.

Projects may be new or existing and must focus on youth development or breaking the cycle of poverty for young people. Organizations do not have to be based in Camden County if their programs serve Camden youth.

“Their commitment to young people in the Northern Albemarle region is clear.”

Who can apply?

NCCF guidelines allow applications from qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofits, organizations using an eligible fiscal sponsor, local governments and public schools, fire and rescue departments, and religious organizations.

Faith-based organizations may apply, but grants cannot fund religious doctrine, activities limited to members of a particular faith, or general operating support for religious entities.

Other restrictions include political or lobbying activity, annual fund or capital campaigns, reimbursements for costs incurred before the application deadline, loans and grants benefiting named individuals.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the NCCF Grant Application Portal.

After logging in, applicants should select the green Apply link and enter the access code hcwgmw. The 2026 application will become available Sept. 11.

The deadline is noon Oct. 13. NCCF says applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Full program details are available on the HCWGMW Endowment page. Applicants should also review NCCF's grantmaking guidelines before applying.
